Passion For The Poor
Over 25 million people have died from AIDS.
Over 42 million people are living with HIV/AIDS, and 74 percent of these infected people live in Sub-Saharan Africa. There are 14,000 new infections everyday(95 percent in developing countries especislly in Africa) Africa has 12 million AIDS orphans out of the 14 million AIDS orphans in the world, and according to UN estimates,by the year 2010, there will be 25 million AIDS orphans with majority in Africa. HIV/AIDS is a "disease of young people" with half of the 5 million new infections each year occuring among people ages 15 to 24. Thou there are many educational and awareness programs by many international and local organizations in Africa, still there are many high risk rural communities who has not yet benefited from such programs and people are dying everyday. World Technical Volunteers is a 501-c-3 US based international nonprofit and nongovernmental organization partnering with other local organizations and providing innovative programs which promote AIDS awareness and prevention education through mobile video and films in schools and local communities and also support AIDS orphanage homes in Africa where many organizations dare to go.This program brings to light much information on HIV/AIDS and are envisioned by hundreds of people regardless of their ability to read. Nothing is small. Please help us reach our goal of fifteen thousand dollars in the purchase of a used van and equipment for our programs in order to reach some dying souls somewhere.
